Black Citizenship in Miami
Black Citizenship in Miami, as a supplement exhibit to Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow, explored this history through Stories of Resistance from Black Miami, an oral history video series co-created by HistoryMiami Museum in collaboration with individuals involved in past and present movements. The project highlights the resilience and activism of Black Miamians across generations, featuring voices from diverse communities including African American, Haitian, Bahamian, and Afro-Latino perspectives. This narrative is further brought into the physical space through a multi-panel timeline installation.
As designer, I developed the intro wall, along with all signage and interpretive labels for the exhibition. The design approach focused on creating a clean, minimal visual look that could support and respect the weight of the content while remaining engaging and accessible. Emphasis was placed on clarity, readability and highlighting archival imagery within the timeline to ensure the stories remained at the forefront of the experience.
